On behalf of the ministers and staff of the Oxford Church of Christ, welcome!
The Oxford Church of Christ (OCOC) is above all else a family. And, like a family, we are made up of individuals in various places in life.
- Some of us are older, having raised a family and enjoying our retirement years.
- Some of us are just getting started in building a family.
- Some of us are students—here on loan for a few years during our college careers.
- Some of us grew up here.
- Some of us moved here (even from foreign countries).
- Some of us arrived without making the choice on our own.
Nevertheless, we are family and reflect the diverse nature of our world. Better yet, we have chosen to see each other as the family that Jesus created. We’re so glad you’ve chosen to visit us!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
OCOC is a place where you can come as you are. We are more concerned with what’s going on inside than what you look like outside. Some prefer jeans and tennis shoes; others like to wear their “Sunday Best.” You’ll find both on any given Sunday.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We love kids! We have multiple opportunities for your children to participate and learn about becoming Jesus followers. Classes begin at 9:00 for all ages.
During our 10:00 o’clock worship assembly, a safe and clean nursery is provided for ages birth-two years. It is staffed by a loving group of volunteers who provide exceptional care for your little ones, and is located in the same room as the nursery class. Kids ages three to Kindergarten can join Children’s Bible Time after communion. The song leader will announce it is time and you can walk your children to classroom. If you’re new, just follow the crowd.
WHAT ABOUT COMMUNION?
Each Sunday we take Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper. We share this sacred time of fellowship by breaking and eating bread to symbolize Christ’s body broken for us and drinking juice to remember the blood shed for our sins in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
WILL I BE ASKED TO GIVE?
For new visitors, your presence is a gift to us. We want you to be blessed without feeling any obligation to give.
Each week we will have a point in our service where we share our financial resources to benefit the Kingdom work that is going on through our church family. We have discovered that living a generous life is a rewarding way to live. Giving helps increase our trust in God and lets us be involved in some powerful ministries. If you’re visiting with us, feel free to pass the offering plate right on by. When you’re ready to join our journey, we hope you’ll participate in this discipline.
