EXTERNAL MINISTRIES: INTERNAL MINISTRIES
Rebels for Christ Campus Ministry (RFC): As the main mission effort of the Oxford Church of Christ, it has been the goal of the RFC to bring about a revolution of redemption on the Ole Miss and NWCC campuses since our founding in 1960! We are located just across the street from the Ole Miss campus at 409 W Jackson Avenue, and seek to fulfill our mission by providing college students a place where they can encounter God as a community and then be sent into the world as His representatives. To learn more, visit our website (rfcms.org) and Instagram (@rfccampusministry).
Christian Relief Fund (CRF): OCOC has a long history of close work with CRF and many children continue to be sponsored by members. CRF has two main areas of work: Child Sponsorship and Clean Water Projects. We also assist in providing disaster relief, planting churches and training ministers, starting schools and equipping teachers, and building medical clinics worldwide. You can be involved in many ways.
- Pray – commit to pray for a month at a time. You can go to CRF.com, click on sponsor, then decide on how many children you will pray for, and you can filter by country, gender, etc.
- Network – connect with congregations you have relationships with to get speaking opportunities to tell others about the work God is doing through CRF.
- Fundraisers – pray and come with ideas for fundraisers to benefit CRF.
- Sponsor – join CRF in changing a child’s life.
Pine Vale Children’s Home: “When you are gathering your harvest in the field and leave behind a bundle of grain, don’t go back and get it. Leave it there for foreigners, orphans, and widows so that the Lord our God can bless everything you do” (Deuteronomy 24:19, NCV). We send monthly support to Pine Vale Children’s Home located near Corinth. Members participate in food drives; contribute funds for birthday, graduation and Christmas gifts for the children. All members can also pray for the children individually and for the staff members at Pine Vale.
Benevolence and Related Works: The Benevolence Ministry is designed to help the needy in the community. The ministry coordinates benevolence efforts such as helping provide school supplies to low income families. The ministry also coordinates OCOC’s financial and personal participation in Interfaith Compassion Ministry (ICM).
Prison Ministry: The mission of our Prison Ministry is to bring Christ’s love and forgiveness to incarcerated individuals. The ministry is made up of well-organized and well-trained volunteer teams from communities near the prison. Teams conduct an introductory 3-day short course in Christianity in cooperation with the Chaplain, who carefully selects up to 42 inmate leaders to attend.
The Pantry: For the month of November our congregation is in charge of Oxford’s Pantry. We distribute food to the less fortunate in our community, serving between 85 to 140 families a week. We meet food trucks three times a month, unpack boxes and stack shelves on Tuesdays and as needed, then distribute staples, canned foods, dry goods, fresh vegetables, meat, and bread on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. We welcome anyone who wishes to help.
World Bible School: Everyday Christians of all ages equipped with WBS correspondence courses help teach those who want to learn about Jesus. Much like spiritual pen-pals, they provide lessons to the students, encourage them, guide them to respond to the Gospel, and help put them in touch with loving Christians near them.
Western Bible Institute: Monthly support is provided to Western Bible Institute in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala. WBI was established in 1993 to prepare Guatemalan men to preach and assume leadership roles in local churches.
